LFTL Funds Help Plant Churches Among War Refugees

by Dan Kersten on September 18, 2025

Just over 140 new Pentecostal churches were planted among Ukraine war refugees in Germany, Austria, and Poland.

Evangelism resources provided by $90,000 in Light for the Lost funds assisted missionaries in establishing these new churches. The funds were requested by Assemblies of God missionaries in Europe just before the Ukraine-Russia war began. Missionaries sensed an impending tidal wave of suffering people who would need physical and spiritual ministry.

More than 140 new Ukrainian churches have been planted among war refugees living in Germany, Austria, and Poland.

When the first shot in the war was fired, the funds were in their hands and ready for distribution. Bibles, scripture portions, audio devices containing scriptures, and other evangelism resources were utilized as the first war refugees entered Germany and Poland.

"Would you think that people want to read a tract or a Bible in such circumstances," asks Rick Allen, National LFTL director. "Yes, they do. Ukrainians shifted their priorities and began focusing on eternal things. With LFTL funded resources, missionaries were able to lead hundreds of war refugees to Christ in the early days of the war."

Evangelism ministry among Ukrainian war refugees continues, with $90,000 in LFTL funds making tens of thousands of Bibles, tracts, and scripture portions available.

Thanks to the generosity of LFTL supporters, we were able to send funds to the field in advance of the Russian invasion. When the war started, missionaries had what they needed already in hand.

Regular giving by LFTL partners allowed for these resources to be readily available. LFTL supporters helped make this happen! These events highlight the importance of investing frequently in LFTL so that we can respond in the early stages of a great need or crisis.

Join us this month in our year-end fundraising campaign, "More of THIS," so we can help missionaries evangelize hurting people in other troubled parts of the world.

Every gift, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Currently, there are numerous open requests for evangelism funds in at least 50 countries. Thank you for helping LFTL fund these requests quickly.
